Combo is back!

Sorry I havent post anything in a while but we've been really busy lately , but that's going to change, I promise.

Anyway enough bullshit and back to the real shit. Our good friend Combo is back with some goodies for all you Neon Rider Fans out there.

Two tracks, Michel Michel and Hiroshima a Darlings of the Splitscreen remix, combo style. Michel Michel has this chords all over the song very 80's style this kind of song takes you back to the good old teenage flicks from back then. Hiroshima's sound is a down tempo with synts tweaks and a funky sound here and there good remix, this song well make your head move while your cruising the coast.....The original version is pretty awesome and it will make you dance and shake your head and your ass if you can.

Anyway as always this Neon Talent delivers and we think you're going to enjoy it, again! Add Combo to your myspace and as always stay tuned for more of him.

I'm giving you the original version of Hiroshima too, so shake that ass and get it, and please don't let a skinny girl let you go.

Caution... Extremely Pop

We are back with something fresh again and this time it's turn to talk about Grovesnor a band you might know but we needed to post. If you're into Hot Chip or Erlend Oye and Lionel Richie we are sure you're going to love it. If you're still into MSTRKRFT mmmm we're not sure.
Rob Smoughton released "Drive your car" in April with Greco Roman Records, but we feel people need to listen to it more and love it just like we do. You might heard about "nitemoves" a song that was included on the Hot Chip DJ Kicks comp. Hope you like it!

She Knows It!

That's right! an exclusive track from our friends Grafton Primary from Sydney, Australia that is coming out on their debut album due out this September. We took the chance of asking them some questions to give you complete information about the band and this is what they told us.

3YO - Band Members?

GP - Benjamin Garden - Keytar,Synths, Vocals
Joshua Garden - Vocals, Synths
Robbie Mudrazija - drums

3YO - For how long have you been making music?

GP - Since I was 5 years old learning classical piano. Josh learnt flute since he was 7. Um both sang in Church choir too haha . We started working on what would become Grafton primary about 4 years ago. It sounded a lot different. Heaps more housey and dance floor.

3YO - Major Influences?

GP - A lot of older stuff we listened to growing up from our parents. i.e lots of classical, Bach, Beethoven. Classic 70s rock i.e the Eagles, Crosby Stills and Nash. Of course the 80s. We grew up in the 80s. So pretty much that whole decade. Giorgio Moroder, Marshall Jefferson, Madonnas early stuff. Depeche Mode, Then later The prodigy, Chemical Brothers. Lots of 90s Dance.

3YO - Plans for 08'?

GP - We're finishing off our first album right now. Playing a massive amount of shows around Australia including the huge Parklife festival which takes in 5 Capital cities. And hopefully getting our asses over to Europe/UK fairly early next year to start playing some international shows.

Well that was it, and we hope that if you didn't know Grafton Primary, now you can see what these guys are all about, electro pop sounds just making you want to dance. Im hitting you with two tracks, the world exclusive "She Knows It" that we bet you are going to love and as a gift I'm giving one of my favorites "Change", it will blow your mind. Go and give our friends some myspace love and keep track of them because they're gonna be on fire this year.

Deastro's Music.. A breath of fresh Air..

We are back with something very fresh and different. It is time to talk about Randolph Chabot aka Deastro, a guy from Michigan that we are pretty sure is going to explode in your neon stereo.

The transformers movie soundtrack, M83, Cornelius, Brian Eno and French Impressionism are just a few of his influences. The cool thing about it, is that you can really hear those influences in his songs. Does it sound right to you?

All the music is made in Randolph's basement with the help of alot of sampled children's toys and synthesizers. He combines a lot of music styles that can go from Jarre to the Cure and obviously m83. We encourage you to give it a try and listen to the rest of his songs through emusic and his myspace page. You'll be the judge!

Are you ready for Deastro's music?

Drownsoda!

A boy from Limoges, France called Julien started a side project in summer 2007, he have been playing the drums for a long time on some independent bands, but also he had been interested in electronic music and this test for a new way of creating music ended up in Drownsoda, I'm sure we'll all appreciate that curiosity.

He's a big fan of the Roland Juno 60 sounds and he's inspired by various things, from epic and nostalgic "synthpopsongs" of the 80s (New Orderm, Human League, Rod Stewart, Genesis, Italo- Disco Sounds, Etienne Daho, etc) to the waves of indie shoegazing/power pop of the 90's (Weezer, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, etc). But his election in electronic music influence is the French School, which include Daft Punk, Stardust, Roulé Records and also the new french west coast bands such as Anoraak, Error Love, Pony Pony Run Run, Valerie Collective, etc. So as you can see Julien has some neon rider like taste.

Right now his putting some final touches for new songs, and with the help of some friend he's putting together a live act. He plans to start playing shows this fall and also start a little tour in UK and Germany next year. We always love to present new upcoming talents and this is no exception, mainstream can be a little boring sometimes and that's why we need more of this fresh sounds, please give some myspace love to Drownsoda!

I'm leaving you two great tracks, "Playing With Fire on a Cold Winter's Night" which is my favorite and our friend Anoraak put it on his most recent mixtape, so you should definitely put your hands on it. The second one is "Lost in Nothing Hill", which also describes what Drownsoda is about and all the French West Coast influence. Finally a recommendation from theneoncrew is to grab your car, put on your sunglasses, play this tracks and enjoy the sunset.

Are we feeling Frisky?

This time is turn for Chris Tarwinski a.k.a. Frisky and he is from Edinburgh, Scotland but based in London. Frisky is a sound engineer who has been producing music for around 10 years, he started composing using an atari st running cubase v2 and a little sampler but over the years he has bought various bits of hardware and software, dont think he is still using those ancient tools. What he is now using to give us this great tracks are Reason 3, Sony soundforge and his favorite piece of hardware is an access virus synth.

He told us that he loves making music because he enjoys the process of it, some of his tracks have been played in clubs before, but he has never released anything or signed to a record label although he's always open for any proposal. He has a lot of material that is probably going up to his myspace so if you like it, start giving some love.

Under his influences we can find Metro Area, Daft Punk, Chicken Lips, Ed Banger records, Kraftwerk, Journeys by dj, Anoraak / Valerie records, Mylo, Williams, Erol Alkan, Isolee, Les Rythmes Digitales, Jaques Lu Cont, Digitalism, and so on.

I'll leave you two tracks and I hope you enjoy them. First "Digitalis" which is my favorite and I think that there's a lot of Valerie influence there. Then "Stronger than Me" which has a little bit of Les Ryhtmes Digitales, but both of them have neonrider quality so you know what to expect!

Jupiter on earth

Again another Neon Talent, this is a big one, theyre called Jupiter theyre from France but they've been in the UK for about 8 years, and theyre planning their comeback after coming back from California.

Q & A met at a screening of the 1985 cult classic "Ninja Terminator". Because the screening room was empty except for the two of them, they started talking about how great the film was and the morning after, all they can remember is that they had some music uploaded on a myspace, and Jupiter was born.

Right now they are working on a new track, and as they told us they are really excited.

Right now they are listening to Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys but also the amazing disco guru Patrick Cowley. Cowley is a big influence of them, and Q started growing a moustache to pay him tribute.

Besides the fact that A sounds like Annie(not that is a bad thing or anything), this tracks are amazing, and the Patrick Juvet's cover is really good, more upbeat and updated. They have the disco feeling and that electro pop that we love here on The Neon Rider, exactly what we are listening lately. So check them out, download their tracks dance to them chill to them, whatever you do, enjoy them. We will see more of them in the future as they promise, so stay tuned, this is a Neon Talent you can't miss.

Im going to leave you with their two tracks, Enjoy!

Heads We Dance!

This time it's turn for Heads We Dance, a really interesting band from the UK that is celebrating their debut single release which is coming out on June 16th, it's called "My Heart is Set On You" and it would be out in an incredible gold 7" with their last single "Love in the Digital Age" as the AA side, you are going to be able to get this through http://www.puregroove.co.uk. This new single is a really good track if you want to quit electro banging sounds and change them for some quality electro-pop, we know that sometimes we can get tired of them and these kind of tunes are a great escape from it but they also give you a great feeling, a smile on your face and an urge to party while your headphones are on.

Because of their debut, Yoni was kind enough to send us a pre release package gift, which includes remixes for the new single, this is just a taste of what you should be getting on June 16th. I´m leaving you three great remixes and believe me all of them are Neon Rider quality, I won´t be saying much about them so you can be the judge on this one. All I can mention are the ones that put their hands on this track and gave it their own style, first Bournemouth's own Geek Chic Soundsystem, then british wonder kid Louis La Roche putting some house and french touch to it and finally one of our neon talents, Portugal's own Combo.

With this formula nothing can go bad, we would like to thank HWD for the support and we hope that their debut is as expected, success, if you want to know more go into their site www.headswedance.com. Now hit these tracks!

Street Art in a Museum?

Wasn't street art supposed to be surprising? I believe that it was a way to discover something unique. Well, not any more! The Tate Modern is now presenting the first major public museum display of street art in London, a street art of site walking tour showing pieces from Madrid artists 3TTMan, Spok, Nano 4814, El Tono and Nuria, plus an interactive exhibition showing graffiti light projections.

The artists: Blu from Bologna, Italy; the artist collective Faile from New York, USA; JR from Paris, France; Nunca and Os Gemeos, both from Sao Paulo, Brazil and Sixeart from Barcelona, Spain.

Is this exhibition showing respect for the work of street artists or is it an insult for many of them? I don't think so! JR has been wallpapering other parts of the city!

Old School Reunion

It's been a while since the last time I posted, but it's been crazy we've been busy with side projects, that you will see soon.

Anyway, I want to introduce you to some friends of ours for a while, Old School Reunion.

James & Celeste, are from Birmingham UK, Celeste has not long finished her degree in Fine Art and James is currently working in a 80's bar, but that doesn't stop them of making some cool tunes.
They formed January this year, their first few songs were all on Garage band but James sold his drum kit to buy logic,
Now everything they produce is all done on Logic Studio.

They've just finished working on a Remix for Represent http://www.myspace.com/represent952 and it's on their myspace,
there are a few other remixes coming soon as well but they are trying to put some time aside to work on oldschoolreunion tracks.

We asked them what are they listening to now and James is loving Danger, boys noize and the Scarface and lost boys soundtrack, Celeste is loving A Trak, his skills are top, Midnight juggernauts and Kylie. Their future plans is to learn more in logic and get dj-ing about the place and drink way more sambuca.

So check them out, and visit their myspace, download their tracks because once again we give you a Neon Talent that you should keep an eye on. And again we're bringing fresh sounds, and probably the sounds that everyone is going to be listening in a year. Im going to leave you with an exclusive track for the Neon Rider(Rainman), Love story and my favorite DW remix.

Pacific!

We got in touch with Pacific! from Gothenburg, Sweden and we made them a little interview, this is what Bjorn told us.

3YO: Plans for '08?

Pacific!: We are currently mixing songwriting sessions with touring in europe. We will release our album in england and america later this summer and we are looking forward to that. We are also planning to release a remix T-shirt with download codes for the remixes o the neck. There will be new awesome remixes of our songs on that one!

Right now I'm thinking about how to re-evaluate Pacific! and how to combine short arpeggiated piano-notes, buzzing pads and deep compression... and what this might mean on a philosofical level.

3YO:For how long have you been producing music?

Pacific!: We have been writing songs for years and years together or for other bands together in our studio. That is where we are now too.

3YO: Influences?

Pacific!: Claude Debussy, Air, Phoenix, Daft Punk, Justice and the Beach Boys among others. The released album "Reveries" is influenced by ELO, psychedelia and forgotten islands.

3YO: What are you currently listening to?

Pacific!: Right now (or today) we have been listening to a Soulwax dubbel 12" record, the first Byrds album, Panda Bear and classic music by Peterson Berger.

We would like to thank Pacific! for the support and here's what you've been waiting for. They sent us a remix for their latest single "Number One" and it's done by We Know You Love It. And as a double treat I'm leaving you "Runway to Elsewhere" remixed by french sensation Breakbot which is not that new but I'll bet you'll not stop listening to it. High quality stuff people so if you dig it don't even hesitate to go and get "Reveries" which is now out, if you want to know more about them go to www.musicpacific.com

7he Myriads Are Back!

That's right! Vitalic and Alexey aka 7he Myriads are back with three new tunes and believe me they are what we were expecting from them, some funk and disco sounds mixed with some french touch equals addictive stuff. We hope that our russian friends get more attention because they are really giving us something different, smooth sounds but with that vibe that just gets you in the right mood to start partying.

This treasure package that they sent us consists in the following. First, "Megapolice" my personal favorite it's just an amazing track, then "Zvezda" which gives us a little more beats and finally "With you Together", this one is a little bit different but the vocals fit just right. This Neon Talent its hot right now, high recommendation by theneoncrew.
