Street Art in a Museum?

Wasn't street art supposed to be surprising? I believe that it was a way to discover something unique. Well, not any more! The Tate Modern is now presenting the first major public museum display of street art in London, a street art of site walking tour showing pieces from Madrid artists 3TTMan, Spok, Nano 4814, El Tono and Nuria, plus an interactive exhibition showing graffiti light projections.

The artists: Blu from Bologna, Italy; the artist collective Faile from New York, USA; JR from Paris, France; Nunca and Os Gemeos, both from Sao Paulo, Brazil and Sixeart from Barcelona, Spain.

Is this exhibition showing respect for the work of street artists or is it an insult for many of them? I don't think so! JR has been wallpapering other parts of the city!
