Take it to the next level.

I've posted short films with cool motion graphics, without them, but specially excellent stuff. I'm going to go visual again on this post for a little change.

We've never talked about sports, and I'm not going to, but this Nike commercial directed by Guy Ritchie Impressed me. We all love POV shots when they're executed as clean and perfect. If you wanted to know how does it feel to play against the best of the best in the world, let Mr. Madonna do it for you.

The spot feels more like a short film than a commercial, it has comedy, strong parts and even sexual parts in it. The ending perfectly frames the story, and the Eagles of Death Metal soundtrack fits like a glove. Nike did it again. Always ahead of the game.

Enjoy!

Classic Neon Sounds

Sometimes we need to stop, take a look back and kick it old school, that's why this time we are going to talk about old stuff that has influenced lots of the artists that we are listening to right now. And since we've been hearing a lot of this stuff lately, we've put together a three piece selection that will blow your minds and maybe you'll relate two of them to some recent tracks.

First, "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell and believe it or not he chose that name because he thought it "rocked well", but apparently not because this was his only hit single released in 1984 with the collaboration of Michael Jackson on the chorus. Although Rockwell didn't have another hit, this one will stay in our minds for a long time; if you have heard Xinobi's "Car Chase" you'll see the influence.

Rockwell ft. Michael Jackson - Somebody's Watching Me (Mediafire File)

Cybotron was a Detroit based electro band formed by Juan Atkins and Rick Davis, and influenced by artists like Kraftwerk, in 1983 they released their first LP called "Enter" on Fantasy Records which was the one that gave them name on the early 80's electro scene. After a while Atkins decided to separate and although Davis kept the Cybotron project going, it never sounded just right and there was not much to enjoy of later albums. The song that I'm going to give you is "Clear", probably my favorite of the album, maybe you've heard this song sampled in Missy Elliot's Lose Control.

Cybotron - Clear (Mediafire File)

"Disco Nights", just with hearing that title you'll know what to expect of this amazing track by Bronx's own G.Q. which were an R&B/Disco band formed in the late 70's. They had some great tracks until 1981 when they eventually separated. This one was released in 1979 from their first album called "Disco Nights", and if you have heard 33Hz you'll hear some of the influence. We still can't get it off our headphones!

Le Touch Recordings

Le Touch is collective based in Mexico City that is starting to make noise in many stereos. They recently started producing music and remixing good music with incredible sounds. It is relaxing dance music that we are enjoying a lot, you will be the judge now. Bufi and Papo Pepo are two Le Touch artists that sent us fresh material. They are basically influenced by many artists we like including Benjamin Diamond and Zoot Woman so we know you'll enjoy it...

Enjoy it!

Viral World

Nowadays, everything is viral, and when brands and advertising agencies realized that everybody watches youtube and everybody is there, they decided to launch viral campaigns. Anyway, I found this myspace website, and they claimed is not part of American Apparel and that is not sponsored or anything like that. That might be true, But the thing is that is a good idea, and is meant to be viral. The whole idea revolves around shoplifters caught in American Apparel Stores, and then after they become stars. They have 3 videos now and pictures with all the sexyness of the usual American Apparel photos. Anyway I don't want to promote brands here, is not something we do here  on The Neon Rider, but I just wanted to show you this interesting experiment, or campaign? or whatever it is check it out.

Here's one of the videos.

Check their myspace .

As a double treat I'm going to leave you with a new song of Sidechains, we got it a couple of weeks ago and since we talk about this Neon Talent before other blogs and now is everywhere and even other kidz (by colette) copied our post. I'm just going to leave it, just because it's a Neon Talent. Very nice song, very french touch, and very danceable. Enjoy!

Sport Pop

Le Sport (my favorite band name) is a duo from Sweden that recently stopped playing. We don't understand why, but we know some of their songs will be always in our minds and you will be one of the few lucky people to hear their catchy music. While looking into old playlists I found a song that could be easily in the latest Cut Copy album or be a song from any artist of the Valerie collective. Le Sport released a few other songs that are really worth listening to if you are into late 80s early 90s dance pop. If you need a extreme pop injection this is the band you should be listening right now.

Fresh sounds from the neon stereo...

It's time to calm down on a Sunday and just relax.. Peter Lindstrøm is a known producer/musician/remixer we have been listening lately. Perfect fresh disco sounds are the only words to describe the music he produces. If you are into retro space sounds and future disco we are sure you will become addicted. From his "It's a feedelity affair"(2006) album we selected the perfect song to just give you an idea of what the album sounds like. Peter Lindstrom also works with other artists like Solale and Prins Thomas creating fantastic music we can stop listening to.

Futurecop!

Its time to bring you Futurecop!, we already recommended him in the neon talent section but this time we are going to talk a little bit more about this interesting project. Manzur aka Futurecop! started producing music 2 years ago, the first year he described it as making some shitty sounds and really don't knowing where his music was going to, but now believe me it has the right direction.

Within his influences you can find Stan Bush, US 80 pop culture, Madonna, Chaka Khan, Beverly Hills Cops, Corey Haim & Corey Fieldman movies, Back to the Future, Phil Collins, Van Halen, Cindy Lauper, etc. What Futurecop! tries to create is a nostalgic feeling with his music, something fun and free, he describes his shows as something simple, openess is his model and this project is done for fun, he told us that when he stops having fun with it, he will stop making music. That's how things are ought to be.

Interesting plans for 08', lots of shows in London, Australian Tour, Tshirts, an EP coming out soon and they are going to start making new tracks and a mix cd at the end of this year. So as you can see lots going on for the Futurecop! this year, we bet that 08' its going to be good for them and if you dig this great project you better keep track on their myspace to see whats going on.

What you are waiting for, "N.A.S.A" is the title for this song, I bet you'll love it.

Mega Heat filled with Souvenirs

Straight from Nantes on the west coast of France, we introduce you to Gaëtan aka Error Love who started this new project last november, so this is fresh stuff out of the oven. He had many different projects before this one such as electro/experimental/math rock/post rock/dance/pop and the list goes on, even when he was a little boy he considered the ATARI ST4 his first "music computer". FYI he is part of Pony Pony Run Run which is a tight electropop band if you like their track, "Star Survivor", you better check out the Russ Chimes remix is awesome, we mixed it in the Glowin' Mix Vol 1. He is still going independent and his plans for '08 are to keep working on some new tracks and to set up a unique live show for the summer, so if you are interested you better keep track of Error Love's gigs on his myspace.

Influenced by different kind of artists and types of music such as Phil Collins, Silver Apples, 90's Eurodance, Autechre, Goblin, Cybotron, Dopplereffekt, Blondie, Tangerine Dreams and many more, define what Error Love is trying to achieve musically, just combining all this different styles into a perfect blend that makes you want to dance. You know that we are always trying to give you the new stuff out there and this time is no exception, Error Love is a really interesting project and with Gaëtan's experience we bet the result is going to be as we predict it, great success!

I'm gonna leave you two goodies, first "Nightlife Souvenirs" great track, but this one is just to start heating up things, then "Top Cop Mega Heat" which is excellent because of all the different sounds that you can find in it, you will feel an urge to dance with this one. I hope you like them and keep track of all the new upcoming artists that we are presenting you here.

Grand National, Underappreciated?

This time is personal, Grand National is a band that I've been listening for a couple of years but it appears they are not getting the buzz they deserve. If you're into Hot Chip, Zoot Woman, Cut Copy or the Junior Boys we are a 100% sure you will like their music. I just don't understand why these guys aren't as big as them! It has a little bit of everything but it is mostly relaxing and smooth electro pop to hear everywhere at anytime. Both records "Kicking the National Habit" and " A drink and a quick decision" are gems that many people should hear now so spread the word!

And by the way, we know we have many readers in Australia. Grand National will be playing this month so check their webpage for more info!

Here are some of our favorites! Support the artist!

COMBO MUSIC

It's been a good week, we've been finding new and fresh talents with the sounds we find interesting. You may know Combo, a few months ago Mr. Discodust introduced us to his addictive music. Combo's music reflects a variety of influences, my favorite one Ultravox, combined with Cerrone. By hearing combo's music trip you can expect anything; with his songs he can take you to from the perfect funk song to relax at the beach to the classiest dance party you've always imagined. Also he's been working in remixes that remind us the first time we heard Miami Horror. He finished a remix for Heads we Dance that has the perfect elements to be in any Kitsune Compilation and will be working on six more songs for this summer.

Combo decided to send us a scoop of his newest material produced in his studio in Portugal. By hearing these songs you will know what we are talking about!
