Drownsoda!

A boy from Limoges, France called Julien started a side project in summer 2007, he have been playing the drums for a long time on some independent bands, but also he had been interested in electronic music and this test for a new way of creating music ended up in Drownsoda, I'm sure we'll all appreciate that curiosity.

He's a big fan of the Roland Juno 60 sounds and he's inspired by various things, from epic and nostalgic "synthpopsongs" of the 80s (New Orderm, Human League, Rod Stewart, Genesis, Italo- Disco Sounds, Etienne Daho, etc) to the waves of indie shoegazing/power pop of the 90's (Weezer, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, etc). But his election in electronic music influence is the French School, which include Daft Punk, Stardust, Roulé Records and also the new french west coast bands such as Anoraak, Error Love, Pony Pony Run Run, Valerie Collective, etc. So as you can see Julien has some neon rider like taste.

Right now his putting some final touches for new songs, and with the help of some friend he's putting together a live act. He plans to start playing shows this fall and also start a little tour in UK and Germany next year. We always love to present new upcoming talents and this is no exception, mainstream can be a little boring sometimes and that's why we need more of this fresh sounds, please give some myspace love to Drownsoda!

I'm leaving you two great tracks, "Playing With Fire on a Cold Winter's Night" which is my favorite and our friend Anoraak put it on his most recent mixtape, so you should definitely put your hands on it. The second one is "Lost in Nothing Hill", which also describes what Drownsoda is about and all the French West Coast influence. Finally a recommendation from theneoncrew is to grab your car, put on your sunglasses, play this tracks and enjoy the sunset.
