FEEL THE GLOW OF THE NEON!
A long time ago I found this video, It's by Studio Smack, a collective of young artists searching for new aesthetics and concepts. Commissioned by the De Beyered Museum three young graphic designers made a film about legible signs in town and I found it really interesting, and just because of all the amount of visual stimulation that plague us every day, and how consumism an commercial effectiveness has become utterly dubious. It's so simple and it's so good.
And as a double treat I'm going to talk about a band that is making a lot of sound in England, they're called Bolt Action Five, they are an dancepunk/industrial band from London, England, composed of Tobias J Hughes, Ian William Galloway, Dan the Carnivore and Mark Murphy. They formed in early 2006 from a variety of different members and have appeared repeatedly in Artrocker and PlayMusic magazines, as well as in NME, I-D Magazine, Disorder Magazine and various online music journals.
The band seems to have difficulty describing their sound, variously categorising themselves as indie/electro, industro-pop, dance punk, or electro-metal. and in interviews have listed influences as Devo, Nine Inch Nails, Wire, Prince and Michael Jackson. So if you haven't heard of them check them out. Here is a Kissy Sell out's RMX of Tree friend tree foe.
