Danger

The Horse Meat Disco compilation was released a couple of weeks ago and you can find it on vynil, cd or even online. I've already got my vynil copy and also bought it online, but the only differences are like two or three songs in the tracklist. Anyway the compilation is great for disco lovers, a lot of dance floor classics are there as well as some more rare tracks.

For this week I've selected Gregg Diamond's "Danger" which was out in 1979 on TK Records with "Stand Up and Dance"as the b side. This tracks is straight up disco with a great bass line and vocals that will make you want to dance. Remember to buy this compilation before it gets sold out it's totally worth it.

Untitled Love

I know that the Neon crew has been away for a while, summer, in my case moving from Mexico City to NYC, and I know that there are a lot of reasons that we can list but they won't make up for lost time, so now we are going to give you the quality and the quantity that you deserve. Changing the subject into a less dramatic one, DFA's Still Going is back and after giving us great dance floor moments with "Still Going Theme" two years ago, their new 12" just got out a couple of weeks ago and it's amazing. It has two tracks "Untitled Love" which is the one that you're going to enjoy today and it has an instrumental version as well, the other side contains Spaguetti Circus which is nothing but a dance floor monster.

We totally recommend you to get the 12" at your favorite record store or buy it online on emusic, juno or your most preferred online site. Remember to always support the artist, here we give you just a glimpse of what the albums are but you should spent some dollars to get the whole picture.

Here is "Untitled Love" and as a bonus i'm giving you the Instrumental Version.

James Yuill

This time is turn for James Yuill, an interesting artist which brings folk/pop and electronic music together with a fresh proposal, he had his debut album "Turning Down Water for Air" out on Moshi Moshi Records on 2008 which has received nothing but good critics. This year he got lucky to be picked and edited by Balearic master Prins Thomas."This Sweet Love" was the chosen one and I have listened to it several time but the truth is that while I was stucked in the traffic jam and it just pop up in my stereo I just realize the greatness of it, that's why I want you to listen to it and be embraced by it as I was this very morning.

You can find it on the Kitsune Maison Compilation #7 or mixed in the Live at Robert Johnson Vol. 2 by Prins Thomas. Go out there and buy the records! hope that you enjoy this as much as theneonrider does.

Icasol

Last week was kind of busy for me, I was feeling all stressed out and I was looking for something to calm me down, make me feel comfortable and looking through my music I found the perfect formula for what I needed, a track that has been for a while in theneonrider music library but that I haven't heard in months. This track released November last year on the high quality label Claremont 56 is called "Ongou" by Icasol and it's remixed by one of the finest acts out there, Idjut Boys.

I don't want to bore you with too much information, I just want to let you know that this track is pure beauty, a work of art for you to close your eyes, relax and then fly off to your favorite destination.

DISTRICT 9

One of my first posts for The Neon Rider, was about one of my favorite directors out there, Neil Blomkamp. The trailer of his new feature film "District 9" produced by Peter Jackson is out, and it looks amazing, it just leaves you wanting more. If your familiar with his work, you'll notice that the storyline is pretty similar of Alive in Joberg.

I hope you enjoy it and if you want to go back in time and check my Neil's post go here.

We Got Time

Maybe it's too early to show you another video but I was blown away by the Moray McLaren video of "We Got Time".

It's all about the "back to basics", the techinque David Wilson masters it's so great and he takes it to another level. The blending of the music with the visuals, help the story telling really well and it seems the visuals take over the song but at the end its a perfect blend of art. I really love pre-cinema optical toys - kinetoscopes, zoetropes, magic lanterns, and the praxinoscopes (featured on the video).

Everything was made in camera, believe it or not. Please watch in on HD, and I'll leave the making of video too. (go to the youtube link beacuse is on wide screen and you might been missing the right side of the frame)

Visual Again

I haven't post any motion graphics in a while, but today I found something worth posting.

Masa Nakamura is a multidisciplinary designer and animator who doesn’t pigeon hole himself into a single approach to solving his creative problems. Whether it be traditional 2d graphics, stop motion puppetry or painting on glass, Masa is willing to explore any medium necessary to get his message across.

This piece was created by Masayoshi Nakamura and Magico Nakamura created for the Adobe Records video competition. Great way of combining different technics, to entertain and show something beautiful. Watch it on HD if you can.

And as a double gift I'm going to leave you with a great old tune from 1976 by the great Boney M. a track that will make you dream as an 8 mm film.
